Louis Bartenstein, Vice President, Fixed Income Strategist

During his 35-year career, Lou has been a fixed-income asset portfolio manager, trader, client contact strategist, portfolio strategist and economic forecaster. He has managed portfolios ranging in value from $100,000 to $5 billion.

Lou spent 18 years with General Reinsurance’s investment operations. As a Vice President in the Investment Department, he led the team managing the firm’s taxable fixed-income assets.

He served as a Managing Director with General Re Asset Management as both a portfolio and client manager. Most recently, Lou served as an Asset Class Specialist for General Re’s investment subsidiary, New England Asset Management, in Farmington, CT. There he was a corporate bond manager, trader and chief strategist for corporate bonds and government debt instruments. He was responsible for portfolio growth from $1 billion to $4 billion.

Previously, he served as an Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Management for Equitable Life Assurance Society, New York, NY. Lou received his MBA from the University of Rochester and his BA from Boston College. He also holds NASD Series 7, 24, 53 and 66 designations.
